LAGOA
The council of Lagoa with 89 km2 has a permanent resident population of 21 500 inhabitants of both Portuguese and foreign nationals, this number rises to 70 000 during the summer period.
The area offers a unique geography with an extraordinary landscape, namely in the picturesque villages of Carvoeiro and Senhora da Rocha which have a very high tourist population. Lagoa is the stage for one of the most famous events in the southern Portugal, Fatacil, a crafts, commerce and industrial fair, which is held during the month of August. The vineyards, with their long tradition of quality are a great source of income in the area.
