BARLAVENTO
The river Arade with its affluents` Boina and Odelouca, is the main watercourse in western Algarve. In it´s last few kilmetres just before the estuary in Portimão, it creates important marsh areas, which make it an interesting zone in terms of scenery and ecology. It is a very sought after area for a vaiety of birds such as small white herons, storks and flamingos, amongst others. It is also possible to see others, a very shy mammal with a predominant nightlife.
